Vision of Ashlar believes in fashion that is beautiful, timeless and made sustainability. We are the crossroads of locavore & up cycled and we handcraft small batch women’s clothes by repurposing men’s shirts, purchased locally (often within walking distance of our studio), designed and manufactured in Brooklyn, NY.
Our styles are made for every day and every body while leaving a minimal footprint on the earth and supporting local U.S. manufacturers.
Rough and Perfect Ashlar — The Potential For Change
The Ashlar stone is the finest masonry stone, derived completely from rough raw material that has within it the potential to be perfected. And those freemasons working with the Ashlar are expected to meet extensive qualifications and strength of character, having the potential to serve and support their community and withstand the same inspection expected of the stone.
For over two decades, Amy Sperber has worked as fashion designer for numerous brands. Her experience in mass-market production and the waste she witnessed and contributed to throughout her career in fast-fashion, inspired Amy to make a change.
With Vision of Ashlar, Amy’s goal is to approach design in a more considerate way, using available resources in the secondary market and avoiding demands for new textiles. Additionally, Amy is developing personal relationships with the sewing businesses that manufacture for Vision of Ashlar, by employing within the local community.
Taking a locavore approach and manufacturing up cycled clothing, locally hand crafted with care is a small step toward a big change.
